As summer begins to wind down, it's the perfect time to give your pet a little extra attention. The transition from hot summer days to cooler fall weather can bring changes that affect your furry friend's health and comfort.

Start by staying on top of flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Many people assume these pests disappear as summer ends, but they remain active well into the fall. Continue using your pet's preventative medications as recommended by your veterinarian.

Keep an eye on hydration, especially during late-summer heat waves. Fresh, clean water should always be available, whether your pet is lounging indoors or enjoying time outside.

Don't forget to check paws after walks. Hot pavement, rough trails, and foxtails or grass awns can cause irritation or injuries. A quick inspection can help catch problems early.

Finally, schedule your pet's annual wellness exam if it's coming due. A routine checkup can help identify health concerns before they become more serious and ensure your pet is ready for the changing season.

With just a few simple steps, you can help your four-legged family member stay happy, healthy, and ready to enjoy everything fall has to offer! 🐾
